Elvis recorded ‘Hawaiian Wedding Song’ on 22 March 1961 in Hollywood, California at Radio Recorders, and was the first track recorded that day.Originally recorded for inclusion in Elvis’ 1961 movie ‘Blue Hawaii’, ‘Hawaiian Wedding Song’ was first sang live by Elvis on 6 November 1971, at both of his shows in Cleveland, Ohio and for much of that particular tour.Whilst he would occasionally return to the song, it was not until 1974 that it became a regular feature in his show. In 1977, it was again, sung less frequently, and it appears that Elvis used it only once on his final tour, this final version in Rapid City on 21 June 1977. Elvis concludes the song, as he often did, with a kiss and a scarf for Kathy Westmoreland, who had been dueting with him on the song.Elvis also recorded another version on the stage of the Honolulu International Center, on 14 January 1973 after the ‘Aloha’ special, for inclusion in the post production sequences.
