“There Goes My Everything” Elvis Presley

The song “There Goes My Everything” is a typical sixties country song telling of a breakdown of a relationship and the hurt it is causing. Elvis recorded it on 8 June 1970 during his “Nashville marathon’ and was the first song recorded during that final day of recordings.
Elvis performed it twice during filming of ‘That’s The Way It Is’ during consecutive midnight shows of 11 and 12 August but appears not to have used again for the remainder of the engagement. This could be pure coincidence or it could suggest by his introduction of the song that it was an attempt to promote the upcoming ‘Country’ album on which the song was included. If so, it would of course have been at the mercy of the film’s director and editor and inevitably both performances ended up on the cutting room floor!!
The first performance was resurrected and included in 1992’s ‘The Lost Performances’ but not for the TTWII 2001 re-edited version. In that version of the movie, the producers used Elvis’ spoken intro to this song immediately preceding “Just Pretend” and omitted the proper intro!!
As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
