This was the fourth song of Elvis’ legendary afternoon show in The Houston Astrodome, the only venue which saw Elvis perform solely with the TCB band on stage during the seventies. The size of the stage prevented Joe Guercio and his orchestra from being present at both of these shows but the show seemed to benefit from this. Elvis and the band gave just that little bit extra to fill the areas left bare by the lack of orchestra.
As a result, this rendition has a similar feel to those from November 1970 when Elvis first introduced it to his show whilst on tour. This was just the third show of his first tour of 1974 but just two and a half weeks later, during the tour’s closing show in Memphis, Elvis would give a rendition of this song which would bring his third and final Grammy award.
