Elvis gave his last press conference at the Hawaiian Village Hotel to announce the satellite show once again.
The date was set on the morning of January 14 1973, with a concert dress rehearsal for a live audience the night before. Since the Las Vegas press conference it had been turned into a charity concert at the instigation of Honolulu advertiser columnist Eddie Sherman,who suggested that it should benefit the Kui Lee Cancer Fund. Elvis made the first contribution with a $1,000 check.
