In 1956 a “Win A Date” with Elvis Presley contest was held by ‘Hit Parader Magazine’. The contestants had to write a paper of 100 words or less about why they wanted to meet Elvis. 25 contestants won either an album or records, and 1 lucky girl won a date with Elvis. That lucky girl was Andrea June Stephens from Atlanta, GA. The date was set for August 10th, 1956 in Jacksonville, FL. Elvis was performing shows at the Florida Theater that day and the date would take place in between his shows. June flies to Florida for her special day. In between his shows he takes her out for hamburgers and Cokes. They hang out in the hotel. While in the lobby of the hotel an over excited fan faints and Elvis sits by her side trying to revive her until she comes around. They also hang out backstage at the Florida Theater where he plays a few soft songs at the piano as the wild fans block all the exits. Here are some pictures of their date. I hope you enjoy them!
