Priscilla has set the record straight, not once but many times. Priscilla shares, “I do not want to leave this world in the hands of other people writing my story. One of the myths being that my father made Elvis promise to marry me. That he made the call or that I made the call to visit Elvis and I was the one who first called him.
First of all, back in the day, a girl never called a guy. Ever. It just isn’t part of the culture. The man always calls first, and my parents were very much from that era. It was a handover from me, too, you never called a boy. That just never happened and that Elvis promised wasn’t true.
It was done very properly, carefully and decently. It was 1959 and still in the time of being proper. People do not quite get that, even today, it is just appalling to people.”
