September 9, 1956 Elvis performs on the Ed Sullivan Show, broadcast from CBS Studios in Los Angeles . Due to Ed Sullivan’s car accident the previous month the show is hosted by Charles Laughton New York City , More than 80 % of the national viewers watched Elvis’ live performance , he sings Don’t Be Cruel, Love Me Tender, Ready Teddy and Hound Dog.
