Memory from 1960 to 1963 Graceland

Here’s a memory from 1960 to 1963… When we lived at Graceland, one of the things my brothers and I did, was watch the Bugs Bunny Show… In the kitchen… It aired every Wednesday night…

We’d take some chairs from the kitchen table and pull them closer to the TV… Now, here’s a little know fact… Elvis loved cartoons, his favorite was the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote… I think Elvis laughed even harder than my brothers and I, when he saw those cartoons…

Here’s what made those times so special… It was Elvis’ way of spending time with us, and bonding with us, after filming a movie… I remember a couple of times, someone would come up to us, while watching TV… Elvis would either put his hand up to stop them, or say… It can wait until the show is over…

Whenever that happened, my brothers and I would look at Elvis and smile… Elvis would wink at us, and we’d continue watching our show…

As I look back on the early years with Elvis… I see, that my brothers and I gave Elvis an excuse to be a kid again… I cherish those special moments we shared…

Every time I see a Road Runner cartoon, or walk through the kitchen at Graceland… This memory is one of many that comes rushing back to me…
