Nancy Sinatra co-starred in Speedway with Elvis Presley, whom she’d nervously picked up from the airport when he arrived back in Hollywood from the army. ‘I was like every girl my age – head over heels in love!’.
Barbara McNair recalls the visit of Mahalia Jackson :’Elvis and I were sitting there together and Mahalia came on the set and she asked Elvis if he would participate in a fund-raiser that she was going to organize. Elvis was so gracious, ‘Oh, Mrs Jackson, I am so happy to meet you, I would love to do it, but I still have to ask the Colonel’. It was a Roy Hamilton R&B tune, ‘Without A Song’ that Elvis famously quoted for his acceptance speech at the U.S. Jaycees’ Ten Outstanding Young Men of 1970 dinner.

Sophia Loren and Elvis met each other once – in February of 1958 – at Paramount Studios while Elvis was filming King Creole. Sophia flipped over Elvis! Sophia Loren met Elvis Presley at the Paramount Studios cafeteria while he is filming ‘King Creole’, in February 1958. Still photographer Bob Willoughby happened to be there and took these memorable shots of Sophia and the King. According to Bob Willoughby, Loren spotted 23-yr-old Presley eating lunch in the Paramount commissary and decided to go over & introduce herself. Which is to say, she promptly sat in his lap, gave him a kiss, & began mussing his carefully sculpted pompadour.
