November 1 Events – Today in Elvis Presley History

1956

Elvis bought a new Harley Davidson. Accompanied by Nick Adams on the old motorcycle,
Elvis took Natalie Wood for a ride.

1960

Fred Woodward, a local police inspector and personal friend of Elvis had a fatal heart attack. When Elvis heard the news he rushed into the hospital and tried to comfort the widow. “He was a great guy, a good friend” he said, obviously distraught.

1970

Elvis spent a final weekend in Palm Springs before going out on the November tour.

1971

Elvis flew to Washington D.C. to visit Joyce Bova. He was accompanied by Sonny West and James Caughley. He checked into the Hotel Washington using the name Jon Burrows.

1976

Elvis spent much of the next 3 weeks flying back and forth between Memphis,
Denver, Palm Springs and Dallas.
