Elvis recorded his first spoken word single: “The Truth About Me” – a flexidisc attached to magazine covers.

Elvis arrived in Spokane, Washington at 11.20 p.m. for the beginning of a tour, managed by Al Dvorin.

Elvis Presley switched directions musically but it didn’t matter–his #1 song “It’s Now Or Never” was #1 for a third week.  “Walk–Don’t Run” from the Ventures was second followed by “The Twist” from Chubby Checker.

Elvis Presley’s 10th feature film “Kid Galahad,” co-starring Gig Young, Lola Albright, Joan Blackman, and Charles Bronson, opened in U.S. and Canadian movie theaters.

With the Colonel, the whole staff and gang and wives, Elvis and Priscilla attended Nancy Sinatra’s opening night at the International. After the show all went to a party hosted by Frank Sinatra and attendees included Fred Astaire.

Elvis Presley, in the 50s was The pelvis, but in the 1970s, he was a meta artist, who used his limbs, shaking what moved from the hips, and on this night, he proselytized karate instead of the bible.

Already karate had been taking more and more time during Elvis’ performance, but this night Elvis put on his Karate
outfit (over his stage suit!) and discussed (atgreat leangth) his Karate skills – putting on a full-scale demonstration with Red West.

Three men are arrested in Memphis after trying to steal Elvis’ body. As a result, the City of Memphis approved Vernon Presley’s request for a land variation for Graceland and the creation of the Presley Family Cemetery at Graceland.
