Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Bob Montgomery
Eager young fans surround Elvis Presley at Fair Park Coliseum in Lubbock on June 3, 1955. The crowd includes Buddy Holly and Bob Montgomery (far upper right) who, as Buddy and Bob, had a regular program on local radio station KDAV. Buddy and Bob opened a show headlined by Presley at the coliseum on February 13, 1955. Presley’s performance had a profound impact on Holly, who transformed from country artist to rock-and-roll pioneer and later credited the singer’s powerful influence.
