Compared to other entertainers Elvis’ concerts were quite short. Elvis should have done longer concerts in lesser cities. He should have done less tours. This way he could have rested more and his body could have recuperated more! However he knew that his fans wanted to see him desperately so he did as much tours as he could to answer to the demand of the fans. To make these long and many tours possible Elvis had to do shorter concerts

One reason he did shorter shows was in Las Vegas the hotels wanted him to play 45 to 50 minutes and keep the opening acts’ time short enough to fit everything into a two hour window, which allowed the hotel staff time to clean up and prepare the showroom for the second show, but also because it got the audience back into the casino to spend money. And unfortunately when Elvis started touring again he just took his Vegas show on the road. On tour he could have cut the opening set back and prepared a great longer set, even if just 85 or 90 minutes, to do something more for fans who had driven many miles or hours to see him. I guess I should feel fortunate, he played for about 75 minutes the night I saw him, but he cut “Hound Dog” and started CHFIL after “Hurt,” so I guess I could feel cheated out of 50 seconds or so.
