Jerry Schilling, longtime friend of Elvis Presley, is hosting a series of concerts to commemorate the King of Rock’s return tour 50 years ago. And this has confirmed that Elvis’s only true friend on the music circuit was Tom Jones.Schilling has explained that the Welshman and Elvis used to spend long evenings well into the night singing songs from each other, reports the BBC, and that their inner circle was small and Jones was in it, the only musician with whom he was really very close.
“Elvis was always cautious about people approaching and his intentions,” said Schilling, who said the two singers met at film studios in California. After the time of intimacy and friendship between them.Schilling told the BBC: “We all got together at a friend’s house and sang songs at the end of the night. Tom liked to sing ‘One Night With You’ by Elvis. They even went on vacation together to Hawaii and spent a lot of time together in Las Vegas. ” The two had contact until shortly before Presley’s death in 1977.

Tom and Elvis were from working class back grounds so they had a lot in common in the sense they weren’t brought up in privileged backgrounds and were able to relate to each other on a human level .
