One of the first members of the Memphis Mafia; he and Elvis were cousins and childhood friends, they worked jobs together, they dated girls and they stayed close. Like his cousin Billy Smith, Gene lived at Graceland and was in charge of Elvis’ wardrobe. He, along with several others, stopped working for Elvis in 1969 due to a pay dispute with Vernon.
