On August 15, 1972, in preparation for the divorce date on October 9, 1973, a 12-page divorce document was prepared. These papers were auctioned on November 11, 2017 at the British auction house Andrew Aldridge & Son and for the first time offered exciting insights into the legal subtleties of the separation between Elvis Presley (1935-1977) and Priscilla.
What did Priscilla get after the divorce?
After the couple separated on February 23, 1972, they thought about the financial and material separation. The law firms Robert L. Brock (for Priscilla) and Hookstratten & Irwin (for Elvis) were commissioned to do this.
As part of the deal, Elvis gave his ex-wife his 1971 blue Mercedes Benz, his 1969 Cadillac Eldorado, a 1971 Harley Davidson and $ 100,000. Priscilla was also guaranteed half of the income from the three apartment buildings in California.
The payment of $ 100,000 – $ 552,072 based on today’s value – should be made in two installments. The first $ 50,000 was due five days after the divorce papers were drawn up. The remaining sum, in the same amount, should be paid by August 20, 1973.
