February 23, 1955 Elvis performed at 7:30 and 9;30 pm in the High School Auditorium in Pine Bluff, Arkansas .

February 23, 1956 Elvis performed at the New Baseball Park in Jacksonville, Florida. He was taken to the hospital after collapsing in the parking lot after the first show, he was diagnosed with exhaustion and the dr advised him slow down.

February 23, 1957 A recording session arranged by Steve Sholes was held Radio Recorders for the purpose of Elvis to cut Loving You as an RCA single. Instead Elvis turned his attention to other material . The session ran from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and I Beg Of You and One Night came out , with each being a possible candidate for single release.

The live cross-country concert tour “Biggest Show of Stars for ’57” made a stop at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis for a sold-out show featuring Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, LaVern Baker, Bill Doggett, Clyde McPhatter, the Five Keys, Ann Cole, the Moonglows, the Five Satins, and Charlie Brown.

February 23, 1967 Wearing a complete cowboy outfit complete with chaps Elvis returned to the studio , during the session he overdubbed vocals on the prerecorded instrumental tracks. Some were completed , and several had to wait until his return to Hollywood.

February 23, 1958

LaVern Baker sang “Substitute” on CBS-TV’s “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Jack Warden, Victor Moore, Tina Robin, and the Happy Jesters also performed on the program.

February 23, 1963

The Chiffons’ mega-hit “He’s So Fine,” charted today. It became the  first vocal=group #1 in rock history to be produced by another vocal group, the Tokens. The record would remain at #1 for four weeks

At RCA Victor’s Music Center of the World studios in Hollywood, Sam Cooke recorded “Little Red Rooster.”

February 23, 1969 Elvis returned to Los Angeles.

February 23, 1970
The first annual Juno Awards, Canada’s version of the Grammys, was held in Toronto. The awards had existed since 1964 under the name The RPM Gold Leaf Awards, which were established by Walt Grealis, editor and publisher of RPM magazine.
 
Ringo Starr made his first solo TV appearance on NBC’s “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.”

February 23, 1970 Giving what many considered to be one of his finest performances Elvis closed his engagement with a midnight show that ran until 3:00 a.m , During this show played the piano on Lawdy, Miss Clawdy and Blueberry Hill and near the end of the show he introduced the Colonel to the audience stating “He’s not only my manager, but I love him very much.”

February 23, 1971 Elvis ended his Las Vegas engagement with a show which included a variety of songs that ranged from an upbeat Mystery Train/Tiger Man Medley to a sad Help Me Make It Through The Night. As was customary on almost every closing night, there was a water fight.

February 23, 1972 Priscilla flew in for final night of Elvis’ engagement informing him that she was involved with karate champion Mike Stone. Elvis was awarded a 5th degree black belt from Ed Parker’s International Kenpo Karate Association.

February 23, 1973 Ann-Margret attended Elvis’ closing show . He told Lamar, who was in charge of the lights,: “Leave the light on her, man, I just want to look at her.”
