June Juanico initially met Elvis in June 1955, after he saw her in the group at one of his shows. They had an unbelievably, guiltless 1950’s relationship. On one event when they drew near to having all out sex, they were “spared” by his Mom, Gladys. While Elvis was dating young ladies in Hollywood, June met a nearby man and got ready for marriage. In March, 1957, Elvis requested that June meet him at Union Station in New Orleans, where he needed to change trains. He advised her he had something to demonstrate her and she expected to run with him. She let him know she couldnt, however she adored him and now she was getting hitched. Elvis cried as she left and the following day, June read: ELVIS BUYS GLACELAND.

As per Elvis biographer Peter Guralnick, Juanico didn’t question that Elvis cherished her, however “she didn’t know whether she would ever get him back,” in light of the fact that on one of their dates the vocalist was continually discussing his closest companion, performer Nick Adams. “He began enlightening her everything regarding Nick and Nick’s companions and Jimmy Dean, yet she would not like to hear.” What truly resentful Juanico, however, was that Adams had begun welcoming himself to see Elvis, and Juanico felt that she was attempting to seek Elvis’ consideration. Adams would speak frequently about Natalie Wood to Elvis, always talking about her figure and her excellence, something else that made Juanico feel that she would soon lose Elvis to the marvelousness of Hollywood Juanico’s fears were not only a neurosis, as Elvis had a short hurl with Wood amid his initial days in Hollywood

Juanico was surprised when she heard about her former boyfriend’s prescription drug abuse. “He never drank or did drugs when I was around him,” she says. She thinks she might have prevented Elvis from becoming dependent on drugs when they had stayed together. “When Elvis died, I felt guilty. I’ve never been able to understand how he could be surrounded with so many people who supposedly loved him and yet they allowed him to do that to himself.”

She composed a book on Presley entitled, Elvis in the Twilight of Memory (1997). As per the New York Times survey, the book peruses “like a secondary school journal, adages flourish, personal depictions of sexual fumblings let us know more than we truly need to know, and exchange between the sweethearts sounds like a film script in critical need of change. … Nonetheless, her depiction of an ‘uncommon evening with simply both of us at the piano’ with Presley singing ‘Unchained Melody, only for you, child’ is touching.”

We got so wrapped up in kissing on our first date – nothing excessively messy, it was simply radiant – a bit of pecking here and there, a snack here and there, then a genuine chomp. ‘He was an eminent kisser’. ‘He said, ‘Who taught you how to kiss?’ And I said, ‘You know, I was simply motivating prepared to ask you the same thing

Elvis was turning out to be more well known, and [manager] Colonel Tom Parker needed him connected with performing artists and Vegas showgirls. Obviously, Elvis enjoyed legs that continued for a considerable length of time, and he brought one of those showgirls home for Christmas in ’56. That did it for me. I chose to wed another person. Also, Elvis said the Colonel said we couldn’t get hitched, that he wouldn’t set out do that to the Colonel.

Whenever I saw him was in a motion picture theater in Memphis in the mid ’60s. I went down the line behind him and tapped him on the back, and he pivoted and our eyes just bolted. He got up and place me in a demise hold. One of his folks kept running over on the grounds that he thought somebody was mishandling Elvis. However, Elvis was clutching me. Priscilla was sitting by him, and she was extremely thoughtful. She kept her eyes stuck to the screen.

  1. I don’t believe Elvis would ever have stayed faithful to any woman.. and anyone thinking that his drug addiction could have been prevented by his friends, doesn’t know anything about addictions!!!!

  2. Elvis was ill, he took medication, for the cancer in his leg, for his eyesight problems, and for the health problems he inherited from his mother, his addiction to hard drugs is just hearsay,

  3. I just finished reading June Juanico’s book. While I appreciate the glimpse into Elvis and her summer romance I don’t know what this lady’s motivation was. So if Elvis was not a rich and famous singer and actor how would she feel about him, his treatment of their relationship if he was just an ordinary man? She may have handled letting Elvis know of her engagement a little better than she did, she broke his heart. But she was correct, that he had other women he was involved with. As far as saving him from his demise, she would not have been able to do so, her friend was wrong about that, that Elvis would listen to her. It was unfair of that friend to suggest he would. Elvis didn’t listen to doctors or others who said they tried. Had June Juanico married Elvis her fate would have been similar to Priscilla’s, expected to stay home and raise the children while Elvis was out making movies and touring, and seeing other women. I hope she appreciated the husband she did marry and the life and children they have.

    • I first read that book when it first came out, I still read it on occasions. Even though he broke her heart first because he had multiple women besides her, she indeed broke his heart when she said I’m getting married to another man. The good thing is that they saw each other after that and spoke on the phone and they remained good friends.
