John was the rhythm guitarist for the TCB Band from the Las Vegas opening in 1969 to the last concert in Indianapolis in 1977.Wilkinson is particularly known for his guitar playing on “Early Morning Rain”, which Elvis repeatedly included in the program from 1974 and thus introduced Wilkinson to the public.After suffering a stroke in 1989, his left arm was left paralyzed and he could no longer play the guitar. But John didn’t give up and kept going. He was always a welcome guest at Elvis events and has published several books about his life and career. i.a. “My Life before, during and after Elvis Presley”.He died of cancer on January 11, 2013 at the age of 67 surrounded by his family.
