Minnie Mae was Elvis’ paternal grandmother, whom he nicknamed “Dodger”. Minnie Mae initially lived with Gladys and Vernon in Tupelo and later at Graceland. When Elvis came to Germany with the army, she accompanied Elvis and Vernon to Goethestrasse 14 in Bad Nauheim.Minnie Mae was often in a bad mood, used snuff and wore her sunglasses most of the day. She was a great support to Elvis after Gladys died.Minnie Mae survived her famous grandson and died in Memphis on May 8, 1980 after a two-month illness at the age of 89.She is buried with Elvis, Gladys and Vernon in the Meditation Garden next to Graceland.
