Gladys looking very sad circa 1956… I don’t think she was living a very happy life after 1955. By 1956 her son became the biggest star on earth and in my opinion she couldn’t cope with it. Gladys was afraid that something could happen to Elvis. She wasn’t very happy that her son was around for a long time anymore. She worried that Parker would mean Elvis’ downfall… She worried all the time about her sons future. Gladys couldn’t cope with the overwhelming situation and took more and more medication and drank more and more alcohol to ease the pain. The same thing happened to her only son years later. A sad story for both of them!
