Because of the mixed results of his 1960’s films, Elvis’ considerable ambitions and potential as an actor is often forgotten. This is true for not only the generaI public, but it also extends into his fan base. This publication hopes to act as a permanent reminder of sorts as far as setting the record straight on the general quality of Elvis’ pre army roles. We hope to achieve this in two different ways.
First, the text aims to be a most in-depth look at these movies. Not so much from a biographical sense, as that has been covered many times in the past, but instead we will look at the films failures and triumphs from a creative standpoint as well as their contemporary and modern impact. As much as Elvis’ TV appearances helped launch him in the USA, these films played a large part of establishing Elvis as a worldwide sociological force. There also is a fair degree of information on the actors and crew who helped put these projects together. This material is included not only for reasons of reference, but also to demonstrate the caliber of the people Elvis worked with at the time
