ELVIS, MARCH 17, 1956. IN HIS SUITE AT THE WARWICK HOTEL. NY

Elvis takes advantage of a break between rehearsal and the night’s performance that will take place at the Dorsey brothers’ “Stage Show” to return to his hotel.
It was the day Elvis met the man who would become his invisible photographer. To the photographer of the most absolute intimacy of him: Alfred Wertheimer.
After rehearsals for the show they returned to the Warwick Hotel together.
Elvis had only known Wertheimer for five hours, but he was comfortable with the young photographer.
Elvis stretched out on the couch to look at his fan mail.
Wertheimer took more photos of him, then settled into a nearby chair and fell asleep.
But he was awakened by the noise of an electric razor. Elvis had showered and was getting ready for the TV show.
Wertheimer asked if he could go into the bathroom and take more photos. Elvis already had his pants on, and he said yes.
Alfred also had the privilege of being able to see and capture him, as Elvis performed his protocol to comb his hair.
From that day, both made history.
