Larry quit his job at Jay Sebring’s iconic Beverly Hills hair salon and became Elvis’ personal hairstylist, after not only giving him a particularly good haircut in April 1964, but also making time for Elvis and his spiritual yearnings. His enthusiasm for religion and the spiritual hit the mark with Elvis and before long Geller, nicknamed “Guru” by the “Memphis mobsters,” was researching the Beverly Hills library for books on all aspects of the spiritual. The two friends could talk for hours about religion, parapsychology, the supernatural and the mystical world. To show his appreciation, Elvis gave Geller the usual white Cadillac.Colonel Parker felt threatened by Geller’s growing influence and tried to get rid of him, but Geller’s aura and Geller remained. Elvis continued his search for the spiritual until his death, reading extensively about the supernatural aspects of religion. He was particularly drawn to the idea of contacting his brother Jesse, who had died in childbirth.Larry was also on hand in 1977 to do one last haircut for the late Elvis – just as Larry had done so many times before.Geller has contributed to numerous publications and also written about his personal experiences with Elvis: in 1980 he co-wrote “The Truth About Elvis” with Jess Stearn, in 1983 he wrote “Elvis’s Spiritual Journey” and in 1989 “Elvis Speaks”. His current work is entitled “Leaves Of Elvis’ Garden”.
