Starring: Hope Lange, Tuesday Weld, Millie Perkins, Rafer Johnson and John Ireland
Directed by Philip Dunne
Plot: Elvis plays Glenn Tyler, a young rebel. After an argument with his drunk brother, in which he was badly injured, his father turns his back on him. Glenn is placed in his uncle’s custody by court order. Psychologist Irene Sperry’s initial professional interest in Glenn turns into true love, but small-town conventions and further arguments keep him angered by small-town residents until new testimony proves his innocence in the death of his opponent. On the recommendation of Irene – who obviously finds this difficult – Glenn travelsoff to attend college after notching up initial success with an attempt at writing.

Again Elvis proves his acting talent. The film gains substance through its performance, although the screenplay does not live up to the original artwork.
