Following the death of Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock and roll legend Elvis Presley, the family has been fighting over her inheritance.
After Lisa Marie Presley’s death, her daughter Riley Keough inherited her entire estate, but this will was contested by her mother Priscilla Presley.
Priscilla Presley went to court claiming that her daughter Lisa Marie’s will was invalid.
It was announced that Lisa Marie Presley died at the age of 54 on January 12 as a result of a heart attack. Forensic medicine has not yet announced the cause of Presley’s death.
Less than a week after the funeral, Priscilla Presley’s lawyer petitioned the court to remove her mother from guardianship following a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s estate.
In the petition read in Los Angeles Superior Court, it was stated that 77-year-old Priscilla Presley was not aware of this “so-called” correction while her daughter was alive, although it was specifically requested in the will, her name was misspelled in the correction and Lisa Marie’s signature was different.
The correction removes her mother and former business executive Barry Siegel as co-guardians, and replaces them with her children Riley and Benjamin Keough. Benjamin Keough died in 2020 at the age of 27. Riley Keough is an actress.
Priscilla Presley’s lawyer requested that the 2016 amendment be invalidated, stating that there were no witnesses to the correction. Lisa Marie Presley’s funeral was held at her family’s home in Memphis.
At the funeral, Priscilla Presley read a poem she said was written by one of Lisa Marie’s daughters.
