Billy Smith talks about what was happening in this picture.

On the set of Follow that Dream in 1961 Elvis had a break and returned to his portable dressing room to have his make up reapplied and go over his script with Red and some others.

Billy knew that when they wanted Elvis to return to set a man would knock on the trailer door and say ‘ready on the set’ on this occasion very soon after Elvis had shut his dressing room door Billy, imitating the voice of the man who usually came, rapped on the door and said ‘ready on the set’.

Elvis replies ‘okay I’ll be out there in a minute’. Billy waited a few minutes and knocked again ‘ready on the set’ Elvis, sounding a little agitated replies ‘I said I’ll be there in a minute I’m finishing my make up’ The third time Billy does it Elvis opens the door and Billy runs to hide; Elvis says ‘I’ll be out there in a minute’. The director hearing Elvis says ‘it’s alright we’re not ready yet’ Elvis knew then what had happened and who was behind it.

With his make up finished Elvis chases Billy but couldn’t catch him, suddenly Billy finds himself surrounded and that’s when Elvis catches him and puts him in an armlock. When trying to run off the gang picked Billy up by the arms so his feet didn’t touch the ground. “I thought it was funny until they ran me down”
