Elvis arrived on Saturday, January 28, 1956 with his band for test recordings at Nola Studios in New York. That same evening, the first Dorsey Brothers Stage Show – hosted by Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey – was to be broadcast from CBS Studio 50

It was raining heavily when Elvis and his companions Scotty Moore, Bill Black and D. J. Fontana entered the CBS premises in the late evening. Singer Elvis Presley, who was not known all over the country at the time

In addition to the King Of Rock ‘n’ Roll King, singer Sarah Vaughan and comedian Gene Sheldon were guests.

The second appearance on February 4th, 1956 was accompanied by the hits “Baby Let’s Play House” and “Tutti Frutti”

On February 11, 1956, the day of the third arrangement, a heavy snowstorm prevented Elvis from driving early from Charlotte, North Carolina to New York. So he reached the studio just a few minutes before shooting began. In addition to the young rocker, Ella Fitzgerald and Jackie Miles were also guests on the stage show. Elvis delighted the audience with the song “Blue Suede Shoes” and his latest single, “Heartbreak Hotel”, for which he was accompanied by the Dorsey Band.

At the fourth engagement on February 18, 1956 Elvis sang the songs “Tutti Frutti” and “I Was The One”

For the fifth broadcast on March 17, 1956 (broadcast 8:30 pm) Elvis decided on the songs “Blue Suede Shoes” and “Heartbreak Hotel”

The last arrangement on March 24, 1956 was overshadowed by the serious Carl Perkins car accident. Perkins, who was supposed to appear in the competition program “Perry Como Show”, had an accident on the way to New York. Elvis, who originally wanted to sing Perkins’ hit “Blue Suede Shoes”, changed this plan out of respect for his friend and instead chose “Money Honey”

After his 6 gigs, Elvis stayed in New York for 2 more days to do some interviews and to hold business talks with his record company RCA.
