Joyce Bova crossed paths with Elvis Presley in a rather serendipitous encounter during her vacation in Las Vegas back in 1969. Despite residing near Washington DC and having her career rooted in the House Armed Services Committee, Joyce found herself drawn into a unique connection with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Their rendezvous extended beyond chance meetings, becoming a regular occurrence, even amid Elvis’s other relationships and his ongoing marriage. With her dark locks and reminiscent makeup, Joyce bore a striking resemblance to Priscilla Presley, often causing mistaken identity. This resemblance led to curious whispers, with many assuming she was Priscilla herself.
When Elvis made his notable trip to Washington to meet President Nixon in December 1970, it was Joyce whom he sought out first. Invited to Graceland during Priscilla’s absence in Los Angeles, she even accompanied Elvis for an eye operation, marking significant moments shared together.
In the Elvis entourage, Joyce was not a secret; she introduced both her twin sister and mother to the music legend, evident in pictures alongside close confidants like Jerry Schilling and Sonny West. Like many other women in Elvis’s life, Joyce felt a sense of being treated uniquely and cherished by him. She held a belief that Elvis would eventually divorce, a prediction that indeed came to pass, altering his marital status.
However, by the time of the divorce, Joyce had faded from Elvis’s life, with Linda Thompson taking on the role of his special confidante and girlfriend instead. Joyce’s time with Elvis had its place in his story, a chapter that intertwined with his complex personal life but eventually made way for new connections and relationships.
