May 8 Events– Today in Elvis Presley History

1954

Elvis and Dixie go to the “Memphis Cotton Carnival”.

1955

Elvis performed in “Fort Homer Hesterly Armory” Tampa, Florida 2.30 and 8.15 PM

1956

Elvis went back to Memphis where he stopped by the newspaper office and announced:
“Man, I really like Vegas. I’m going back there the first chance I get.” 
For the first time Elvis stayed extended at his new Audubon Drive home.

1957

Elvis went to the MGM soundstage to record the vocals for Baby I Don’t Care.
Afterwards there were some script rehearsals.

1959

Since Red West went home for a couple of days, Elvis tried to recruit Alan Fortas
to replace Red West, but this failed.
Alan was already warned by Red of the restrictiveness of life in Germany.
Elvis then contacted Cliff Gleaves.

 
1968
 

1973

Elvis performed at the High Sierra Theater, Sahara Tahoe, Stateline, Nevada at 10pm and midnight.

1976

Elvis performed at the High Sierra Theater, Sahara Tahoe, Stateline, Nevada at 8pm and midnight.
At 8pm Elvis wore the “V-neck suit” with original belt and at midnight he wore “Blue Egyptian bird”
suit with original belt.
