Elvis and Renauld Sunglasses: In the spring of 1961, during the filming of ‘Follow That Dream,’ Elvis became an early adopter of Renauld brand sunglasses. A trendsetter in the world of fashion, Elvis eagerly sought out the newly launched stylish and forward-looking ‘wrap-around’ Renauld sunglasses.
While shooting the movie in Ocala, Florida, Elvis expressed his interest in acquiring a pair of these innovative sunglasses and dispatched his security team to procure them. Unfortunately, they returned empty-handed, reporting that the sunglasses were sold out. However, luck favored Elvis when he spotted someone among the hundreds seeking autographs, sporting the coveted shades.
A swift negotiation between the sunglasses’ owner and Elvis’s security ensued, leading to a transfer of ownership for $100. From then on, Elvis proudly sported these sunglasses for at least the following two years, cementing their iconic association with him.
Fast forward to today, Renauld has joined forces with ABG, the owners of EPE (Elvis Presley Enterprises), to craft the Elvis Edition of the Renauld Sixty-One™, complete with its distinctive leather case. This collaboration has birthed three new sunglass models, incorporating cutting-edge patented technology. Notably, one model boasts a remarkable feature: an authentic piece of Elvis embedded in the lens, marking a world-first in sunglass innovation.
